Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 5

For  this activity we had to find someone that has made a difference to the world.

You may not have heard of this person his name is Masujiro Hashimoto he is one of the four founders of Nissan Motors. Nissan Motors is one of the biggest Automobile brands currently. I bet you a person you know owns a Nissan of some sort. I find cars very cool. Does anyone else reading this like cars?

Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 5

For this activity we were asked to share three things that treasure us.

One thing that is treasure is my friends because they help me when i'm sad and play with me when i'm happy

Another thing I treasure is my swimming skill because it makes me happy and is very fun.

Last but not least I treasure my family because it is always exciting when I see my grandparents and other family members.

Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 4

For this activity we were allowed to change our name to whatever we want.

I would change my name to sun because my sisters name is Raine.summer day GIF by Petter Pentilä

Summer Learning Journey Week 1 Day 4

For this activity we had to watch these two videos video 1 video 2 and write down three things we learnt from watching them.

1. I learnt that women get paid less than men. Serena has won 23 Grand Slams and has earned 80 million dollars. The most paid Tennis player Novak Djokovik has earned 100 million even though he has only won 12 Grand Slam Events

2. Serena Williams and Venus Williams are sisters I didn't know that because I am not a big tennis fan.

3. I learnt that Serena Williams has a child called Alexis.

I want to know why women don't get paid equally to men.

Summer Learning Journey Day 1 Activity 2

For this activity we had to tell you the audience about our cultural background.  I'm a fifth generation New Zealander and my ancestors came from a lot of European countries. The last name Gaudin (which is my last name) originates from my great great Grandad (who's parents where from France and his wife was from South Africa) and probably his great ancestors as well.

Summer Learning Journey Day One Activity 3

For this activity you have to get a charity that you are interested in. For my case I'm interested in #TeamTrees. Mr Beast and Mark Rober plus the you tube community have made a fundraiser to plant trees. Every dollar is one tree and their goal is to reach 20 million dollars. The reason they started was to celebrate Mr Beast's 20 million subscribers on Youtube while help the environment that little bit. As of the time of posting this they have raised 19,152,430. The fundraiser ends on January 1st. The reason I'm interested in this is because the're helping the environment.

Summer Learning Journey Day 1

The activity idea is to come up with 10 things to eat that you would take on a 3 week canoe trip.

1. Trail Mix. it has nut seeds because they are high in vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, fibre and protein which you would need to stay energised. nuts such as almonds, cashews pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds.

2. Dried Fruit. normal fruits are highly perishable, dried fruits are heat stable and have long best before dates. they would be pretty suitable for longs trips

3. Water. water is a must have, you can only last 3 days without water.

4. Muesli. muesli is high in energy and fibre and would sustain you for a period of time

5. Sweetened Condensed Milk That Have Vegetables In Them. Your source of calcium and sugar

6. Tinned Casseroles/Meats. Would help your brain and vitamin b.

7. Orange Juice. Hydrates you and  gives you vitamin c

8. Beef Jerky. It doesn't perish, and is a source of protein as well.

9. MRE Self Heating Beef Stew. Can heat you up and protein and carbohydrates.

10. Biscuits. energy and carbohydrates.

Speech

In class we have been working on speeches. This term we are focusing on writing our end of year speech. I reflected back on my term 3 speech for guidance and help to create an amazing end of year speech. This is my creative speech from Term 3. I hope you enjoy it.

Radish carving? Singing with dead horses? Could this get any weirder? Yes it can! But i’ll start off with some holiday traditions that aren't so weird.

Have you ever heard of a radish? Have you ever eaten a radish? Have you ever tried to carve a radish? Well if your in Mexico on 24 of December you can carve your own radish and make outstanding sculptures. What are some kind of things you would carve if you had the choice?

What would life be like without christmas? Waiting all year for nothing? Well if you live in Japan, you don’t get christmas instead you get KFC for dinner. They don’t celebrate christmas because they use the two most exciting days of the year ‘christmas eve and christmas’ to spread happiness rather than open gifts. Imagine lying in bed on christmas morning waiting to see if Santa came? How disappointing would that be?

International Bean Day one of the less known holidays. On January the 6 you can celebrate your favourite thing… beans! In the united states they have a whole day dedicated to show how much you love beans? Bean day was created because a lady by the name of Paula Bowen believed there wasn't enough holidays in the year. It was also created to celebrate her dad Mr Bean.

From this speech I hope you have learnt something new about these odd holidays. Thankyou for listening.

Concluding The Journey

one thing I learned in the summer learning journey was how bad pollution is on earth.

one thing that surprised me was that fishing is banned in places and the fine is $100000.

one thing that upset me was no one is really doing anything about the pollution problem.

one thing my family could do is create a foundation that helps protect endangered plants.

A House Is Not a Home

The most interesting one for me was the nut and fruit forests. I found them interesting because firewood and grazing is kind of important cows and other produce need grass and stuff. Image result for firewoodImage result for grass

Restricted Access

Over the past few decades millions of tourists have made the trek to Machu Pichu. Unfortunately, this has damaged the area and the local government has decided to restrict the number of tourist who visitors to the site each year.

Do I think that this is a good law?
No.
I think that they should make it so you can only see it from a certain point so it causes less damage so people can still go there in the future

These plants have no similarities.

Faded Glory

What can I do to help preserve the Great Barrier Reef?
1. Firstly we could entirely ban plastic bags in NZ
2. Secondly we could  raise funds for a huge project to get rid of the pollution in the Great Barrier Reef.
3. Thirdly we could put this thing called a Seabin in the water and the way it works is it sucks up all the rubbish on top of the water.

Off the Menu

Do I agree about the fishing rule in NZ? No I don't I think that even though its illegal they shouldn't have a fine of $100000. It should be like they have to spend some time in jail rather then pay $100000.Image result for fishing
