Summer Learning Journey Day 1

The activity idea is to come up with 10 things to eat that you would take on a 3 week canoe trip.

1. Trail Mix. it has nut seeds because they are high in vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, fibre and protein which you would need to stay energised. nuts such as almonds, cashews pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds.

2. Dried Fruit. normal fruits are highly perishable, dried fruits are heat stable and have long best before dates. they would be pretty suitable for longs trips

3. Water. water is a must have, you can only last 3 days without water.

4. Muesli. muesli is high in energy and fibre and would sustain you for a period of time

5. Sweetened Condensed Milk That Have Vegetables In Them. Your source of calcium and sugar

6. Tinned Casseroles/Meats. Would help your brain and vitamin b.

7. Orange Juice. Hydrates you and  gives you vitamin c

8. Beef Jerky. It doesn't perish, and is a source of protein as well.

9. MRE Self Heating Beef Stew. Can heat you up and protein and carbohydrates.

10. Biscuits. energy and carbohydrates.

  1. Good afternoon Blake,

My name is Beren. I am a blog commenter from Auckland and I will be replying to your blog posts for the 2019 Summer Learning Journey. I am really looking forward to reading your posts and getting to know you over the summer.

Amazing work on your food list! I like how you have supported your food choices by providing detailed explanations. Have you ever gone on a trip like this before? Not having a fridge for three weeks would be pretty challenging, so prioritising food that doesn’t perish quickly is a smart idea. I love snacking on trail mix when I go travelling. What meal would you like to eat the most?

Nice work on including some images too! Remember, you can provide a website link to show exactly where you got your photos from. Keep up the good work Blake, I am looking forward to checking out your other blog posts :)
