Week 2 Activity 1 Summer Learning Journey. The Christchurch Cathedral was built between 1864 and 1904 it took ten years to build. It sadly came to it's fate 2011 when a 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck Christchurch at 12:51 pm on February the 22nd
Ruby here from the Summer Learning Journey team! Good work! What a great choice of cathedral. It was such a beautiful building and it was very sad when it got destroyed during the 2011 earthquakes. Looking at your post, I wonder how it could only have taken them 10 years to build it. If they were building it from 1864 - 1904, that's a bit more than 10 years! Can you figure out how many years that is?
Do you know what is happening with the cathedral now? I know there were debates about whether to restore it or knock it down after the earthquakes. I wonder which side won.
I look forward to reading more of your blog over summer. Remember you can do an activity during the week to earn yourself more points! Cheers, Ruby.
